Fit For Life
Job
I am the managing director of the Life Coaching Academy Victoria. My job entails creating and establishing a business that will train professional life coaches and corporate coaches, and to ensure that the community at large becomes aware of the benefits that a professional life coach can bring to their lives.
Education
I have a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with majors in psychology and sociology from La Trobe University.
Employment
My first job was as a human resources officer for Australian Fibreglass. I moved through a number of human resource-related appointments including the Myer organisation, at the Chadstone, Bendigo and Northland stores. I later moved into the education field and joined the State College of Victoria. After subsequently working with Australian Airlines, I left to become the first personnel manager for what was at the time the Victorian Government Travel Authority. After establishing the office there, I was recruited back into the airline as the employee development manager, with national responsibilities for training and development manpower planning, and the provision of psychological services to the network.
I then acquired the master licence for Victoria for the Life Coaching Academy, which was established in the United Kingdom in the 1990's.
Career Highlights
Prior to my current role, I was corporate director of human resources for the Omni Leisure Operations, which was the operating arm of the Macquarie Leisure Trust, which managed Dreamworld, the Australian Tour Desk, Adventureworld in Perth, and a number of leisure-related businesses, Australia wide. My role was to provide human resource policy and management at the most senior level of the business.
Work Stress
There's nothing stressful about the work I do now. It's absolutely a joy to be in the office every day to work with wonderful people who have a genuine interest in taking a professional skill into the community and to see people's lives become enriched and to share in people's changing lives.
Secret Of My Success
In this role it is essential to have an understanding of people and what it is they are looking for as individuals, to be tolerant of people, and to have an approach that looks for the best in everyone, and to give them the opportunity to display themselves at their best. I'm very detail-minded. If I'm going into industrial negotiation, or if I was preparing to speak to a large or small audience, I would plan every detail of that commitment or presentation, so that nothing was left to chance.
Goals
My goals are to ensure that the Life Coaching Academy is the premier life coaching training organisation in Victoria, and to work towards establishing the academy as the premier life coaching training organisation in the world.
